The file will automatically be decompressed by Archive Utility into the same folder the compressed file is in. Extract the zip file (or browse the zip file contents). You will see a directory structure now present in the folder. Navigate to ppt media and all your image and media files will be present. Powerpoint with video from Mac to PC

Hi all,
Thanks in advance to anybody that answers my question.
I use Powerpoint 2004 on a Mac for pro presentations. I use Mac because that is what we have here, and also because it is nicer for video editing.
So, I am having LOTS of problems when I insert a movie in my Powerpoint 2004 (Mac) and then try to open the same Powerpoint file on a PC.
I use Final Cut Pro and Quicktime 7 Pro for video editing on the Mac, and I have tried to save the movies in different formats without any success when opening them on a Powerpoint for PC, the only compression format that worked is Cinepak, but then it looses a lot of resolution, making the clip look poor.
I know that depending on the version of Powerpoint on the PC, different formats are supported, but I would like to know what format do I need to create my movies on the Mac so they play without problems in any PC Powerpoint presentation. So that when I go to see a client, I don’t need to spend an hour figuring out what PP version they have etc…
I don’t get WHY files from a same program (Powerpoint) can’t be played in different operating systems… I am sure there is a technical reason, but then WHY the microsoft programmers don’t do versions that are 100% compatible…. if it’s the SAME program…. I had never seen this with other programs, i just think it is dumb, and it is making me thinking about not using Powerpoint anymore, but I can’t…. all the PCs have it, so my hands are tied. Maybe it is a matter of Microsoft politics…. “let’s *DVD the mac users as much as we can so they swith to Windows….” (this comment also refers to the poor msn messenger version for Mac)
Ok, enough talking, if you know the answer please reply this post, thanks a lot lot to everybody for reading

Basically movies/videos are always linked

Therefore you need to give thought to “can powerpoint find this linked file” on both PC and MAC (think filenames and folders)

Windows and the MAC OS are very different when it comes back to media playback.

If it was me, I’d go for a true MPEG1 file for maximum compatibility. It’s better than the original cinepak codec.

If you know that the file will only be played back on a PC, then I’d go for WMV

This week, an updated Apple support article offers a reminder on what to do if Mac OS X Mail keeps crashing (“unexpectedly quitting” in Apple-speak). The most likely cause is a “damaged. The safest approach is to look for a later version of the app from the Mac App Store or look for an alternative app. To override your security settings and open the app anyway follow these steps: In the Finder on your Mac, locate the app you want to open. Don’t use Launchpad to do this. My video was recorded on an Elgato Game Capture and it gave me a TS File of a one hour video. As I went straight to the app, I clicked on New Project to begin editing, I get this message as I dragged in my video file 'Project appears to be damaged. File cannot be opened.' I tried to find some way to fix the issue, but to no avail. If you are working on Mac OS X 10.9.2 or newer, you may see a message about a software installer being damaged when you try to launch it. Saying the software 'is damaged and can't be opened. You should eject the disk image' or that the software 'is damaged and can't be opened. 'The VST2 plug-in is damaged and can't be opened' (macOS) Live Versions: 10.1.2 and later Operating System: macOS 10.13, 10.14 and 10.15 Due to new security requirements in macOS, certain outdated or cracked plug-ins can crash Live 10.1.2 and Live 10.1.3. Roguelight for mac is damaged and cannot be opened help.

thanks Tajsimmons, I appreciate it…… by the way, I didn’t mean to offend anybody with my words i just was typing my thoughts after wasting a whole day trying to fix my presentation in some client’s place….
If i sound hard it is because I have had many, many problems with PP video presentations in front of clients, …. like spending a couple of months preparing a huge presentation, then you go to the client’s place and you have to spend 2 hours trying to figure out how to make it work…. it doesn’t look professional, and it affects my work and reputation. Also to say, that Powerpoint is the only program that gives me problems from Mac to PC, I use 3D and graphic programs as well and I never had this kind of trouble. I guess I just wish that there would be 1, and just 1 version of PP for any platform where you can transfer files without trouble.
Again, i hope nobody takes this personally, because i don’t mean to.
thanks again
